A whole series of Learn-Explore-Enjoy events are transforming Muiravonside Country Park near Whitecross this summer, aimed at involving locals and visitors in learning about their heritage and environment.
The activities are part of a £80k award made by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) in a £175k programme of work that will see a series of improvements in the park area.
Falkirk Community Trust has designed the activities to be accessible and fun and to promote a greater understanding of the Falkirk area’s only country park.
· Training in traditional rural crafts and skills such as dry stone walling;
· Conservation volunteering with the countryside ranger
· A guided interpreted walk through the Park looking at its history;
Ian Scott, Chairman of Falkirk Community Trust said: “Muiravonside is a fabulous attraction and the Heritage Lottery Award means that we are able to open it up to many more visitors for them to enjoy.
“It is a great opportunity to find out more about this great resource for the whole area.”
Colin McLean, Head of HLF Scotland, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, HLF is able to help communities learn about and take pride in their local heritage as well as training in new skills. Learning about history can be rewarding, fascinating and fun, and ‘Muiravonside Country Park – Learn, Explore, Enjoy’ is no exception.”
