Welcome to #30mins30days in September! Every day we will suggest an activity which you can do right here in Falkirk to get you active, whether mentally or physically. Please let us know what activities you are trying by joining in the conversation on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #30mins30days. We look forward to seeing which activities prove popular and to see who is trying something new!
Day 11 – Join the library
Anyone who lives, works or studies in the Falkirk area is eligible to join our library. Books, music, DVDs and other items are available for loan. Every library also provides free high speed internet access and WiFi. You can also join the library online, and use the online library service to reserve or renew books.
There are many reasons to visit your local library – not just to pick up a new set of books! Many people who don’t have a computer at home take advantage of internet access, or are attending a craft group or reading group, or are bringing the kids to enjoy our dedicated family areas.
Gone are the days of librarians “shushing” patrons, libraries are lively, social spaces with many active groups for all ages. Have a look at our listings to get a flavour of some of the activity going on!
Joining the library is completely free and there is age limit – we have recently launched our new children’s library card as part of the national initiative Every Child a Library Member, so even the youngest in your family can be part of it.
Free access to books, being able to reserve, DVD rental, computer and internet access, advice, a friendly welcome and social activities – your library has it all!
