Good Food Nation
Falkirk Community Trust are turning over a new leaf in the Walled Garden thanks to a four thousand pound grant from the Scottish Government’s Good Food Nation fund. The funding allows us to work with Falkirk Allotment Society and the Salvation Army to make the space suitable for community growing. By using the Walled Garden to grow food for the Salvation Army who provide nutritious meals for local people in need and as a space where keen gardeners can grow their own low carbon fruit and veg we are echoing the historic use of the Walled Garden which was originally used to grow food for Callendar House when the site was a private residence. The project will also provide a therapeutic volunteering opportunity for veterans working with the Salvation Army as they develop the garden and send the fruits of their labour to the soup kitchen. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates via our social media feed on Falkirk Parks.
