Active Schools Volunteers of the Month - April

Lewis Williamson

Name: Lewis Williamson

Lewis has been a fantastic volunteer for Active Schools over the last few years. He has shown his passion and commitment to hockey by running after school clubs in various clusters and has demonstrated a high level of knowledge and skill in his chosen sport. Lewis has also volunteered for Active Schools at holiday programmes and events and has proved himself to be a valued and trusted leader who can turn his hand to many activities.

However, the attribute that the Active Schools team admire most of all in Lewis is the fact that he coaches with a smile on his face and makes the sessions fun and enjoyable for the children. Nothing ever seems too much trouble and he is always willing to help out whenever he has any free time. Thank you Lewis for all your hard work with Active Schools!

Through a sports coaching option at school.

What do you enjoy most about Volunteering? Teaching and learning new skills in different sports.

How has being a volunteer with Active Schools benefited you? It has helped me to build upon my confidence and has given me many places to set up clubs and help gain coaching experience for college.

Describe your most memorable moment from your time as a volunteer with Active Schools? Helping out at the active schools summer camp in 2016 and taking part in inflatable races int the Grangemouth Sports Complex pool.

What would you like to be doing in 5 years time? I would like to volunteer to take part in a science experiment that turns me in to a super human but if that is not available at the time then I would like to be a policeman.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about becoming a volunteer? Definitely do it, it's a great way to get involved in the community and it also helps to build upon skills such as confidence and communication.

If you could try one sport that you've never done before what would it be? Lacrosse

If you were left on a desert island and could take with you a luxury item, a book, and a piece of music. What would they be and why? Most likely a CD player with an album of Beyoncé greatest hits, because who doesn't love Beyoncé?!
