It's Volunteer's Week!
We rely on our volunteers to deliver many of the important services we provide. This week, we'll be highlighting the sorts of volunteering opportunities that are available, thanking our volunteers, and showing you how you can get involved!
So let us start with Day 1 - Active Schools Volunteers!
Volunteers are the heroes of sport. Without volunteers, sport in Scotland could not run the way it does. Active Schools relies on a purely volunteer workforce to deliver our programme across the whole of Falkirk. Our volunteers lead and assist at extra-curricular sessions, help us run large scale sports events and also run a range of sporting opportunities for children during the school holidays. Whether you can spare 30 minutes or 10 hours a week we would like to hear from you. We are flexible to our volunteers needs and ensure that volunteering opportunities fit around their schedule.
What training is required?
A PVG Check will be carried out by our staff. New volunteers will be mentored and have opportunities to shadow more experienced coaches in order to gain confidence and experience. We offer a range of training courses free of charge for our volunteers to attend throughout the year.
One of our Active Schools Volunteers, Quaila Sarwar, says:
"Being a volunteer with Active Schools is an amazing opportunity to develop so many different skills, meet new people and have a lot of fun! It is definitely something I would recommend."
