It's Volunteer's Week!
We rely on our volunteers to deliver many of the important services we provide. This week, we'll be highlighting the sorts of volunteering opportunities that are available, thanking our volunteers, and showing you how you can get involved!
Day 3 - Board Member
This role is to oversee the trust’s operation and help develop the organisation, as well as ensuring it maximises external funding opportunities. The Trust was created as a charitable organisation to deliver culture, leisure and library services. All charities are overseen by a board. The commitment is two years in office serving a maximum of three terms, and approximately 20 days per year.
What training is required?
We have a programme of support for the board to ensure they have the appropriate skills for the tasks involved.
Our out-going Chairman Ian Scott says:
"I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved in a more direct way with people who deliver culture and sport, as well as first hand the absolutely excellent work they do."
Current board member Alex McQuade says:
"It’s been rewarding but the last couple of years in particular have been challenging. However, looking around at what the Trust has achieved it is a success story."
