Falkirk Community Trust can confirm that following the Council’s consideration of the Trust’s Business Plan for 2018/19 and last week’s FCT Board meeting, there will be fewer cuts in services this year than originally anticipated.
Proposals to withdraw from Hallglen Sports Centre, Denny Football Centre, Polmonthill Snowsports Centre and up to two libraries are no longer required and these facilities will continue to be operated by the Trust.
The operation of Woodlands Games Hall will transfer to a local community group from the 1st April 2018 as previously agreed. Grangemouth Golf Course will continue to operate as part of the Trust and plans for the Club to take on the management of the course from April 2019 will still go ahead. Falkirk’s annual Fireworks event will also go ahead on 5 November 2018, recognising the important role it plays in community safety.
However, unfortunately the Trust’s Heritage Learning Programme will be withdrawn, and the Outdoor Activities programme will need the support of the Council’s Children’s Services before its future can be secured.
A further review of the Trust by the Council in consultation with the Chief Executive and the Board of the Trust is due to be completed by September 2018.
