Park Gallery News

The Park Gallery Youth Ambassadors Project was launched in April 2013. We have five senior pupils from local High Schools who have applied to take part. They include Amy, Fern, Fiona, Lauren and Rachel who all  want to be involved in championing Park Gallery exhibitions and activities to young people across the Falkirk area. “ This opportunity will be a good way to expand my horizons in the world of work associated with art” Fiona

The main aims of the project are for the Ambassadors to help increase visits of young people to the Park Gallery by promoting the gallery in school and in the local community. They will help develop youth focused marketing and social media tools and have created a website and blog about their experiences already.

Their first assignment was to interview Olivia Brown the artist behind Reggie’s Roller Palace, which they did really well,  check out their film here. They will also be working with artist Fraser Ross whose exhibition Senses opens on 4th May.

They will also be involved in  promoting our exhibition highlight of the year, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Nature over again after Poussin .This exhibition is in association with ARTIST ROOMS, The Tate and National Galleries of Scotland. Ian Hamilton Finlay is considered by some to be Scotland’s greatest artist; a poet, philosopher and gardener, his garden Little Sparta in the Pentland Hills, outside Edinburgh has been described as the greatest Scottish art work of all time.
