Visitors to historic Callendar House in Falkirk will soon get a live interpretative experience of what life was like around Christmas time throughout the various ages of the house.
15 live theatre interactive sessions are being hosted over three weeks in the run up to Christmas at the House. The events take place on Sundays (1/8/15 December) and last for an hour. Shows start on the hour between 11am and 3pm.
Entitled ‘Tales from the House’, participants will get a chance to meet Sir William Forbes (the wealthy 18th century landowner of the Callendar Estate), as well as a period watchmaker and a mysterious time traveller. They will also have a chance to encounter a very special Christmas Party as part of the promenade theatre tours of the house.
The performances are being staged by the Re:Action Youth Drama Group made up from local young people aged 5-18.
Ian Scott, Chairman of Falkirk Community Trust said:
“Callendar House always looks fantastic at this time of year and these performances will certainly bring the spirit of Christmas alive in a very real way.
“The House already provides an interactive environment for visitors with its interpreters but this is taking the history of the House around Christmas to a whole new level.”
Tickets are priced at £5.00 per person (children and adults) or £18.00 for a group of four. These can be purchased from the Steeple Box Office in Falkirk High street or by contacting 01324 506850 in advance. Tickets can also be purchased at Callendar House prior to the performance.
These performances are suitable for all ages. If you show your ticket in the tearoom before or after the event you will receive a free mince pie with any drink purchased.
