Winner of Edinburgh Spotlight Best Cabaret: Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010
What's On Stage "funny, sexy and incredibly entertaining"
Three Weeks "The very best in sexy and salubrious entertainment"
For the first time in Falkirk Town Hall, our audience is invited to experience the thrill of the Cabaret. Vive Le Cabaret will sashay into town, for one night only on Friday 31 August, 8pm.
Considered controversial by some, we encourage our adventurous patrons to see for themselves. We guarantee an evening that is cheeky but never blue, spicy but never sleazy, and above all, a really entertaining night out for the girls (and boys).
Following two celebrated, sell-out runs on the Edinburgh Fringe, Vive le Cabaret is the sensational show that is thrilling audiences around the UK. With four and five star reviews across the board, plus a list of previous guests that reads like a who's who of comedy and cabaret, Vive le Cabaret is the hottest name in the world of new variety.
Produced by Radio One's "King of Cabaret" Desmond O'Connor and Scotland's most successful cabaret producer Julie-Ann Laidlaw, Vive le Cabaret is a lavish feast of comedy, dance, burlesque and all-round entertainment.
As a very special curtain raiser the Falkirk's own Burlesque group, The Falkirk Follies are appearing at Vive Le Cabaret. Formed from an enthusiastic group of ladies from age sixteen to seventy who attended the Beginners Burlesque Classes in FTH in February 2012.
The Follies have appeared previously at FTH as an opener for cult Burlesque movie Tournee. With only 5 weeks training under their (garter) belts the Follies wowed the audience with their brave, confident and sassy moves. If you missed them, you must take your chance to see them in August. As the senior of the troupe, 70 year old Miss Irena says "I haven't had so much fun since you know when!!! A laugh a minute! I have always wanted to do this. And in such a friendly atmosphere who cares if your tassels go the wrong way".
Burlesque classes have proved so popular in Falkirk that an Improvers Class followed in April - June and a new Beginners class of Falkirk Burlesquers was formed.
Trained and choreographed by Scotland's leading performer and expert on all things Burlesque - Gypsy Charms the ladies have formed a firm bond as their confidence has soared.
Says Gypsy: "For me it has been lovely to watch a sense of community evolve from the classes, which is how the burlesque and cabaret scene has developed in other cities and the Follies haven taken on this role in Falkirk. The Follies are a diverse group of women who share a passion developed for burlesque, cabaret and who have discovered (in some cases re-discovered) a love of performance. Their enthusiasm is infectious and they are, quite simply, inspirational."
Lesley Plenty D'Illusional Park who created the Follies Facebook page added "I love the whole ethos of the glamorous, sultry side of burlesque, it allows me to step outside the parameters of what everyone else expects of me and lets me play dress up! It's very easy to enjoy yourself and learn in such grand company with us all having the chance to unleash that inner goddess! To me, the performance is the culmination of all our effort and spreads the joy I've had, and rather than feel inhibited, the roar of the greasepaint, smell of the crowd has always egged on my extrovert!"
Vive le Cabaret comes to Falkirk on Friday 31 August, bringing the best of the Edinburgh Fringe 2012. Full line up to be announced immediately following Edinburgh Festival Fringe award nominations!
