Step Forth tackle part of the John Muir Way

Step Forth were out last Saturday taking on a five mile stretch of the John Muir Way from Carriden Church to Bo’ness as part of a yearlong programme of John Muir activities.

The John Muir Way was opened in 2014 in honour of John Muir, the world renowned environmentalist from Dunbar, celebrated for his philosophies and teachings. The Way stretches coast-to-coast, from Helensburgh to Dunbar, passing through the heart of Falkirk and Bo’ness along the way and taking in many local attractions.

Step Forth run regular free guided walks throughout the Falkirk area, including buggy walks, suitable for different levels of walker. This long weekend is a great time (if the nice weather holds!) to get out and get active with some walking in the local area, so why not join in with one of our led walks, or explore part of the John Muir Way for yourself? Our Step Forth timetable is available here or visit the John Muir Way website for details about the Way, plus walking and cycle routes. We’ve also got a catalogue of John Muir books available at our libraries so you can find out more about John Muir, his life and works, or wile away some time if the weather turns typically Scottish!

Our full programme of John Muir events can be found here, and includes something for everyone, from bat walks to broomstick making, meeting the bees to tea with teddy.
