Feathers and mud and paw prints. The animals have been in Callendar House! And we want you to tell us their story.
Callendar House is now running a Short Story Competition for ages 5 – 12 years with prizes in three age categories.
This short story competition is a chance for children to let their imagination loose in the rooms of Callendar House Museum, and write us a story about some of the animals they think might live in or around it. Choose from one of the ideas bellows and write up to 500 words:
1. Walled Garden
One of the animals who usually live in the Walled Garden has been exploring in the park and Callendar House and causing all kinds of problems. Tell us about their adventures...
2. It is 1830
The year is 1830. Callendar House is not a museum. What might it be like? In the kitchen some animals live secretly, most of the people don’t know about them, but some of the staff know they’re there. Tell us more...
3. Night in the Museum
Unlike the film the things in our museum don’t come to life at night. But, we have heard rumours that as soon as the staff go home, animals of all kinds are ready to take over. Sometimes, in the morning, we find clues. Feathers, mud, paw prints. Tell us a story about one of these animals.
Entries can be handwritten, printed, or emailed from a parent/carers email address. Entries should be marked “Short Story Competition”, with the child's name and age, and contact details for a parent/carer, and either dropped off or mailed to Callendar House, Callendar Park, Falkirk, FK1 1YR or emailed to email@example.com
The closing date for entries is Tuesday 30th June 2015.
