What is physical activity?
Physical activity is a broad term to describe any movement
of the body that uses energy. It can be as simple as walking. Some people think
about getting active as getting fit and assume it means vigorous physical activity.
Who needs physical activity?
We all do! Being physically active is vital
for good health, but research shows that most of us don't get enough. Regular activity,
which gets your heart pumping a little harder, can make us look and feel better.
It does this by helping to lower blood pressure, control weight and reduce stress
levels. It also helps protect us from serious conditions such as heart disease,
stroke, osteoporosis and diabetes.
