Step Forth

Step Forth is our walking programme, and we run walks across the Falkirk Council area for all ages and abilities. We started in 2003 as a health walking programme supported by Paths For All, but we have grown and expanded across the years to include a range of walks and activities to suit everyone!

Find out more about our walking activities below or view our other pages from the menu.

Health Walks

Our health walks are our entry level activity and are led by our fully qualified Volunteer Walk Leaders. The walks are designed to provide a sociable, friendly and supportive environment, and each walk is risk assessed and suitable for all abilities. Walks last between 30 minutes and 1 hour and take the pace of the slowest walker.

Helix Walks

The Helix pathways provide the perfect environment for our longer walks, and our two progression walks are a great next step after our health walks. The Heart of The Helix and Helix Connect allow you to explore the beautiful parkland and paths with our knowledgeable, trained walk leaders. A must for all Helix fans!

We also have a health walk in the Helix every Monday at 10am.

Nordic Walking

We introduced Nordic Walking to our programme to provide the same social, friendly walking environment to those who were a bit fitter and looking for more of a challenge. Nordic Walking is a full body exercise which is easy on the joints, using specially designed poles to strengthen and tone your whole body.

Otago Walk and Class

Our award winning Strength & Balance programme has gone from strength to strength over the last few years. Based on evidence based exercises, Otago builds your strength and improves your flexibility to reduce both the risk and the impact of a fall.

This session incorporates a short 30 minute walk, followed by an Otago Strength & Balance class. You can choose to attend both the walk and class, or just the class if you wish. Find more information about Otago and how it can help you!
