Heritage

The Falkirk area has made a strong contribution to Scotland's history. Particular periods of importance include the Roman occupation, the medieval battles for Scottish independence, and the industrial revolution, all of which you can find out more about through our museums, collections, exhibitions and events.

Our Heritage teams operate over four sites: Callendar House in Falkirk, Kinneil Museum in Bo'ness, Grangemouth Museum and Birkhill Fireclay Mine (which is temporarily closed). The main object collections are housed at the Museum Store in Grangemouth. Callendar House also provides a base for the Learning team, the Archive service and the Archaeology service.
