  5. Select the book jacket or book title to get more information about an item, including some information about the plot.
  6. Select "Place request" and choose the library where you would like to collect the book.

Can I request music CDs and DVDs?

Music CDs and DVDs that are listed in the library catalogue can be requested, but we cannot take requests for CDs or DVDs that aren't in stock. Suggestions for purchase may be made via your local library.

What if an item is not held by Falkirk Libraries?

The library service may purchase items that are in print, depending on the cost and availability of the title. Books and journal articles may also be obtained via the inter-library loan system, which allows us to borrow books from libraries in Britain and abroad.

Please note that there is a request fee for items not currently in our stock. For current fees, please check our fees and charges.

Can I request inter-library loan items via the library catalogue?

Sorry, no. Please visit your local library to place inter-library loan requests.

Is the reservation fee refundable if you don't obtain the requested item?

No, the fee is not refundable as this covers the cost of research, application and administrative fees.

How long will it take?

There is no standard time. You can help us trace the item by giving us as much information as possible, such as where you saw or heard of the book. Please tell us if you have a deadline after which the book will not be any use.

How long can I keep an item for?

This depends on who supplies it and all items may be recalled by the lending authority. Some authorities will lend a book to us for 3 months and may allow further renewals. Other items, particularly those from the British Library and universities, may be restricted to a single 3 week loan.
