Bookbug

The early years book gifting programme is managed in Scotland by the Scottish Book Trust.

Free packs of books, called Bookbug packs, are gifted to all children in Scotland at your baby's 6 - 16 week health check, toddler immunisations and when they start nursery at 3 years old.

A free book is also gifted to children when they start school (usually after the October break).

If your child does not attend the health visitor or nursery you can collect your free Bookbug bag at your local public library.

Bookbug's Library Challenge

Bookbug's Library Challenge is a library joining incentive for children aged birth to four years. It is available in most public libraries and on the mobile library. All you need to do is:

  • Register your baby or child as a library borrower
  • Pick up your Bookbug collector's card
  • Get your card stamped each time you visit the library
  • Swap six stamps for a limited edition certificate.

There are seven certificates to collect.
