Summer Reading Challenge

Solve a mystery in the library!

There's something going down in the library… Will you join the Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge Scotland and read books to catch crooks?

This year’s fiendish theme is Animal Agents. As you borrow and read library books, you’ll collect rewards, stickers and clues to help Bernice the Bear, Bart the Bloodhound, Daisy the Rabbit and snakes Slip and Slide track down the criminal!

How does the Challenge work?

All you need to do is read 6 books over 3 visits to your local library. You can borrow the books you like: stories, fact books, joke books, picture books or audiobooks.

Register at your local library from Saturday June 3rd. You can start collecting your Challenge pack and rewards from the official launch date on Saturday 17th June. The Challenge runs throughout the summer holidays until Saturday 26th August.

Get started by borrowing books and filling out a Challenge registration form. When you’ve read your first two books, head back to the library to collect your pack, collector card, stickers and a bookmark. Return a further two times to collect more stickers, a wristband and a keyring!

Win a £50 Tesco voucher!

When you’ve finished the Challenge you’ll be invited to a special ceremony where you’ll be awarded a medal and a certificate!

If you’ve completed the Challenge, hand back your little collector’s card to the library staff and make sure contact details for a parent or guardian are included. You’ll be entered into our draw to win a £50 voucher for Tesco! The draw will take place at the beginning of September and the winner will be invited to our prize giving ceremony mid-September.

About the Summer Reading Challenge

Every year thousands of children in Scotland take part in the Summer Reading Challenge. It’s a great way to keep the reading habit going through the holidays, reward voracious readers or encourage reluctant or less confident readers. Find out more on the Summer Reading Challenge website.
