Writing Rammy

{RAMMY: Scots noun meaning a noisy disturbance or free-for-all}

The Rammy Returns! Falkirk Libraries annual short fiction competition, The Writing Rammy, is back for its second year.

The competition is open to all ages, whether you’re 5 or 105! Taking part couldn’t be easier; all you have to do is write a short piece of fiction or poetry about anything you choose. You can even send in entries from your whole family for a chance to claim our Family Rammy prize!

Look out for writing workshops in libraries this summer.

Competition categories

Entries will be judged by a panel of library staff. A winner and a runner up will be chosen in each of the following categories:

  • Ages 7 and under
  • Ages 8-11
  • Ages 12-14
  • Ages 15-17
  • Ages 18+
  • Family Rammy - the best group of entries from a family

Family Rammy

For a chance to scoop our Family Rammy prize, get the other members of your family to each write a story or poem and send in your entries together. We want everyone to take part - mums, dads, grannies, uncles, cousins, students… the whole family!
