About the Writing Rammy

The Writing Rammy is for everyone - whether you're 8 or 80, we think you have a story in you!

The competition launches every year on World Book Night and runs through the summer holidays. The first Rammy was launched in 2017 by author Estelle Maskame. Please watch this space for details of 2018's competition.

Entries are judged by a panel of library staff members and a winner and runner up are chosen in each of the following categories:

  • 7 and under
  • 8-11
  • 12-14
  • 15-17
  • 18+
  • Family Rammy

Family Rammy

Get other members of your family involved and send in your entries together - you could scoop our Family Rammy prize! We want everyone to get involved - mums, dads, grannies, uncles, cousins, teenagers… the whole family!

How to enter

  • The competition opens on World Book Night (23rd April)
  • The word limit is 250 words if you are under 15, or up to 500 words if you are 15 and over.
  • All entries should clearly state your name, age, address, tel. no and email address.
  • Word processed entries are preferred and should be sent to our dedicated email address: writingrammy@falkirkcommunitytrust.org.
  • Alternatively typed entries can be handed into any library in the Falkirk Council area by the closing date.
  • Terms and conditions apply - these can also be viewed in our libraries.
  • Please read the rules before submitting your entry.
