Hippodrome 100 Public Art Project

The Hippodrome has always been at the heart of the Bo'ness community, from Louis Dickson's famous films of the Bo'ness Children's Fair to the successful 'Hippodrome For Schools' programme running since the cinema re-opened in 2009.

The Hippodrome 100 Public Art Project is an opportunity to appoint a visual artist to lead regular practical sessions with P5 pupils from the surrounding primary schools: Blackness, Bo'ness Public, Deanburn, Grange, Kinneil and St Mary's RC. The project will encourage an exploration of visual language and expression and will aim to equip pupils with the skills and confidence required to be able to take an active and informed role in the future commissioning of a piece(s) of public art for their area, inspired by the Hippodrome.

Update: We're pleased to announce that Susheila Jamieson has now been appointed as the artist who will be working with the Bo'ness schools and community groups.

Activity in classrooms will commence after the October holidays. Keep an eye out for progress updates.
