Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema 2016
Where Movies and Music Come Alive
'Six years old and in ruder health than ever, Bo'ness' Hippodrome Festival of Silent
Cinema just seems to get bigger and better every time. This year festival director
Alison Strauss cast her net impressively wide to discover little-known early movies
from Germany, Poland, Ukraine, China and elsewhere. And the musicians Strauss involved
felt more unexpected, more of a gamble, but more revelatory as a result.' – The
on HippFest 2016
The 6th Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema was our most ambitious festival yet
- with over 2000 tickets sold, 7 shows completely sold out, and a string of 4 and
5 star reviews.
You can get a taste of what went on here:
HippFest 2017 will take place from Wed 22nd to Sun 26th March 2017.
In the meantime you can catch several HippFest 2016 events
on tour, including the sell-out 5 star screening of 'Wunder der Schöpfung'
with a commissioned score by Herschel 36.
Help HippFest Buy A Piano
The piano is still at the heart of many film accompaniments and we would love to be able to buy an instrument that can be permanently based in the Hippodrome cinema because our HippFest musicians, films & audiences deserve it!
If you are able to support us and help us raise our target amount then please visit our page and share it as far and wide as you can.
