Event description

Archaeological evidence from Scotland shows that the Roman Army was not just interested in field manoeuvres and hand to hand fighting but was bristling with ballistic weaponry.  New discoveries at Burnswark and a review of the missiles from the Antonine Wall suggest that artillery was an important component of attack and defence in the first two centuries AD.  Dr John Reid of the Trimontium Trust delivers this fascinating talk.
