Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a Hippodrome outing for this much-loved cine-fable. It is Christmas Eve and George Bailey (Stewart), a dedicated, up-standing family-man, finds his beneficent company in danger of collapse, and contemplates suicide in the belief that it would be better for everyone if he was dead. But the prayers of his loved ones summon a novice guardian-angel named Clarence, keen to earn his wings by helping George. And so it passes that Clarence sets about showing George what things would have been like had he never been born… A Hippodrome sell out every Christmas, early booking recommended.
Festive Treat: Mulled wine and mince pie or shortbread for £3.50.
On Christmas Eve (Sun 24 Dec) before the afternoon screening at 14:30 we will be joined by local choir the Bo'ness Belles who will be performing some of your favourite Christmas songs. Come early they will be up on stage 20 minutes before the film starts.
