As part of the 2018 Local History Festival, Falkirk Community Trust Libraries are pleased to welcome Jim Summers of The Scottish Railway Preservation Society to Bo'ness Library.

The theme of the 2018 Local History Festival is the centenary of the end of WW1, and to coincide with this Jim will be presenting an illustrated talk on the subject of our railways during wartime. Jim will describe the extent of the railways at the time of WW1 focussing on their development and changes in central Scotland before recounting the important role the railways played during WW1 in the Falkirk area.

Jim has spent 50 years in the railway industry, both here and abroad, and has a wide experience of railway operations. He was a founder of the Institution of Railway Operators and is the author of "Signalling the Caledonian Railway" and a number of articles on railway history.
