  • What safety measures do you have in place?

    • Class and gym capacity have been reduced by 10%-25% across all venues. The fitness studio floor will be clearly marked for customers. This will enable 1 metre social distancing to be effectively implemented. We have created handover time in between each class, to enable room ventilation and cleaning of all equipment thoroughly before and after each class.
    • Class adaptions have been implemented to remove the need for movement around the room, for example, Bodyattack and Bodycombat.
    • Our gyms will be closed daily for one hour deep cleaning and full sanitisation 11.30-12.30
    • All customers will be required to wear face masks in public areas i.e. upon entering the building and while travelling in corridors and toilets. You will be able to remove your mask when you commence exercising.
    • Hand sanitiser stations are available upon entering and will be located throughout all key areas in our venues.
    • Users must clean down equipment before and after use in the gym and studios
    • Air circulation systems have been adjusted to enable fresh air operating
    • The team have been extensively trained on new operating systems, Covid-19 risks, and management.
  • Do I have to pre-book classes and gym sessions?

    Yes, gym and fitness class sessions must be booked in advance, you can do this either online, via our FCT App or website or by phone. You are no longer able to just turn up and walk in. This is in order that we can control the amount of people in the buildings at any one time.

  • What should I do if I have a safety concern prior to my visit?

    If you have a concern that is not covered by our FAQs you can email us at wearelistening@falkirkcommunitytrust.org

    If you have a concern during your visit, please alert a facility team member of staff but keep at least 1m away from our team members while speaking to them.

  • Will I have to wear a face covering?

    We are following the Scottish Government advice on the wearing of masks for both our team and customers. Our team will be wearing facemasks. Customers will be asked to wear face coverings in all indoor public venues. Health and fitness customers will be permitted to remove their mask while exercising, as social distancing measures will be in place. However, customers should wear a face covering when moving to/from the gym or studio to exercise, when moving around the gym and in the public areas, for example, the corridors and toilets.

  • How will you support the Contact Tracing programme to identify people at risk of coronavirus (COVID-19)?

    Contact tracing is a process for identifying people at risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection because they have been physically close to a person who has tested positive. FCT supports the Scottish Government’s Test & Protect Strategy and follows its guidance on the collection of customer and visitor contact details.

    All visitors attending formalised activities must book online or call and book in advance. Upon arrival their attendance shall be recorded. The following details will be collected:

    • The name of each customer or visitor, or when attending as a small household group, the contact details for one member of that group - a 'lead member', noting the size of the group
    • A contact phone number for each individual, or for the 'lead member' of a small household group
    • Date of visit and arrival and, where possible, departure time
  • How will you ensure that social distancing and safety measures are being adhered to by all users within the facility?

    Before returning to the facility, customers will be required to commit to enhanced hygiene measures and our new ways of working. Our team have received training and guidance and will be on hand to support the enforcement and practice of our safety measures.

  • Will staff be wearing face masks and other PPE?

    Yes, it is within our guidance that all staff will wear masks where possible. If the wearing of a mask is unsuitable for an individual for health reasons or specific job roles subject to risk assessment, we will require them to wear a face shield. Staff that cannot wear a face covering for medical reasons will wear lanyards displaying their NHS medical exemption cards.

  • Is there a limited amount of customers allowed to use the facility at the same time?

    Yes, we will be putting a limit on the number of customers in our venues at any one time. Our area capacities have been reduced by 10%-25%, this will vary for each venue and each class specifically; details will be online, or you can call your chosen venue for more information. 

  • Do we have to adhere to social distancing measures during our activity?

    Yes – social distancing must be observed at all times within our venues in line with the latest guidance. We have set up the following social distancing measures across our venues:

    • Minimum 1m distancing between people in all areas
    • 1m distancing between people in fitness classes
    • The floor will be clearly marked in studios for fitness classes to follow physical distancing
    • Accessible gym equipment will be either 1 metre apart or facing in different directions


  • How will you ensure hygiene and cleanliness of the changing rooms?

    Customer health and safety is of utmost importance to us. In the interests of customer safety, changing areas will not be open for Health and Fitness customers. You should arrive in your gym kit.

    Lockers and showers will not be available.

  • Will there be any restrictions on toilet facility provision, and will there be enhanced cleaning provision in toilet facilities?

    We have reduced the number of toilets available and will be limiting the numbers inside at any one time to ensure the safety of our customers. Enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures will be in place.

  • Have your prices changed?

    No. We are keeping these the same as we believe we already offer good value for money. We are reopening with a very similar fitness programme and offering.

  • Will you be offering new memberships?

    New memberships will be available for customers who have not accessed our facilities before.

  • What if I need to self-isolate?

    If you need to self-isolate after your membership has restarted please email fitness@falkirkcommunitytrust.org as soon as possible.

  • If I feel unwell should I still attend my booked activity?

    We encourage you not to attend our clubs if you feel unwell and cancel your booked activity.

  • What if I’m in a group or joint membership and I’m the only one who wants to unfreeze the membership?

    Requests to restart /freeze memberships must come from the direct debit holder. However, there are options to temporarily change your membership to another package such as a Single membership. Your membership would be set to a single membership until your partner/friend wishes to restart. Please email fitness@falkirkcommunitytrust.org or call 01324 503300 and our team can go through these options with you.

  • If I am on the Active Forth exercise referral programme or follow on membership will I be able to gain access?

    Our Active Forth referral programme is fully operational and we are accepting new referrals from health professionals. 

  • Will the toilets be open?

    Yes, a limited number of toilets will be open at each site and subject to an enhanced cleaning schedule. Please follow the signage and wash hands after your visit.

  • Will the sauna and steam rooms be open?

    The sauna and steam room will remain closed for the moment.

  • What happens to my pay monthly membership now?

    Our direct debits have all restarted for Health and Fitness members, with your usual monthly payment taken on the 1st of the month. If, however, you are not able to return to our facilities just yet, you can freeze your membership for up to 12 months. If you wish to do this, please email fitness@falkirkcommunitytrust.org  Please be aware that to freeze your membership we require a return date at the time of placing your account on hold.

  • What membership types will be available to restart when you reopen?

    All memberships. However, please bear in mind that with the current tier system, our Active Forth team will not be available initially.

  • What about annual and other prepaid memberships?

    Annual memberships will have the number of days we have been closed added onto their existing expiry date.

  • What about the Fitness app?

    You can download our Falkirk Community Trust App to enable online booking.  The app also gives members free access to our on demand pre-recorded fitness class library, meaning you can exercise at home, at a convenient time to you.  Offering classes from inspired Combat and Pump, Yoga, Pilates, Bums & Tums, and our lower impact classes like Active Forth Strength & Balance and Paracise.

  • Are the Step Forth Walks still going ahead?

    Yes, we have re-launched all our Step Forth Walks, offering 17 weekly walks.  Our walk leaders have been fully trained in our new COVID ways of working and you can just turn up for these sessions – no booking is required.  We encourage all walkers to bring a face mask, for any potential crowded areas throughout the walks.

  • Do you do outdoor fitness classes?

    Yes, we have 3 outdoor fitness classes are held Monday to Thursday at Grangemouth Stadium, they are suitable for all levels and can be booked online.  These classes are free to existing members.
