  • Do I need to wear a face covering to come to the library?

    As the library is a public building, we ask that you wear a face covering of some kind to help keep us all safer.  Those who are exempt from wearing face coverings, are, of course, also welcome.

  • I have items on loan what should I do?

    You can pop along to any of our libraries to return your books, even if they were not borrowed from that library. We have renewed all items that were due for return during lockdown until October 4th 2021 and waived fines and hire fees.  See more information about returning items

  • I have DVDs on loan, will I be charged more hire fees?

    No. If your DVD was due for return while we were closed, you won't face any additional fees. Just return it as soon as you can to any of our libraries.  Please be aware that our opening hours have changed and check these before coming along.  We have renewed all items that were due for return during lockdown until October 4th 2021 and waived fines and hire fees.  See more information about returning items.

  • Can I come in to return my books?

    Yes, you can pop along to any of our libraries to return your books, even if they were not borrowed from that library. We hope you will come in and borrow more, but you can simply pop in and drop your books at the counter when we are open. Please be aware that our opening hours have changed, and check these before coming along.

  • I have tried to renew the items online in my account but it won't let me. Why?

    This could be for several reasons:

    • Someone else has put a hold on the item
    • You have accrued library fines from before lockdown and your account has been stopped
    • You have reached the maximum number of renewals allowed for an item

    PLEASE DO NOT WORRY. We renewed all items due during lockdown until October 4th 2021 and waived fines. If you have any charges or account issues, please get in touch, telling us your name and library card number, at libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org and we will get everything sorted out for you

  • I don't know my library PIN number

    If you provided your email address when you joined the library you can reset your membership PIN. When you do this, a secure link is sent to your email account. If you have not given us your email address, you will not be able to reset your PIN. In this instance, contact your library for help.

    Your PIN is used to log into the My Account area of the library catalogue, where you can renew books and place requests for items.

  • I have items on hold just now, when can I expect to get them?

    We’re getting lots of new books in, but we have a backlog and processing time is longer because of Covid restrictions.  Some items have quite long waiting lists, but we’re trying to keep on top of this and ordering extra items to deal with demand

  • Can I request an item?

    Yes, you can.  Log into the My Account area of our library catalogue to request, or get in touch with your local library.  Pop over to our library catalogue and follow the instructions.  Once your books are available, we will contact you to come along to the library with your library card to collect them.

  • What is Click & Collect?

    We now have a Click & Collect service available where we choose a selection of books for you.  We will contact you when the books are ready to collect, just come along to the library and ask at the counter. 

  • Are there any resources my family can access online?

    Our Libby app has a great selection of books, audiobooks and magazines for adults, teens and children that you can access for free. Find out how to get started

  • Your library sounds amazing. I'd love to join, can I do that at the moment?

  • Will the Home Library Service still visit?

    Yes, our Home Library Service is still operating.  If you are interested in using the Home Library Service you can find more details here.

  • My family member can’t get into the library / My family member is shielding. Is there a service for them?

    Yes, they may be eligible for our Home Library Service.  It is available for those people who cannot usually get to a library (for example because of long term ill health or frailty) and we deliver a bag of books to their house every 3 weeks.  We have extended this service to those people who are, or have been, shielding.  If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email with your name and address to libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org We also have a great selection of books, audiobooks and magazines for adults, teens and children that you can access for free online through our Libby app.

  • Can I use your printing, copying or public pc services?

    Yes, these services are now available via appointment. Click here to book a PC in advance to avoid disappointment. PCs can be used for an hour per day (this includes 5 minutes cleaning time).  Just ask a staff member in your local library for photocopying.

  • I need a new bus pass/to renew my bus pass. When can I do that at Falkirk Library?

    Falkirk Library are offering the bus pass service by appointment only.  Please contact Falkirk Library on 503605 to arrange an appointment.

  • Where can I get my hearing aid batteries?

    We have a small supply of the most common hearing aid batteries which we will have available for collection in our libraries.  All you need to do is bring in your hearing aid book for us to see (we will not be signing it). If you can’t get into one of our libraries easily (or you have a less common type of battery), then you can get new batteries posted out to you from the Audiology department – either go to https://nhsforthvalley.com/health-services/az-of-services/audiology-services/ or phone 01786 434171.

  • When will library activities resume?

    We are working hard to bring back library activities within the Scottish guidelines.  As restrictions lift, we will be able to start activities back, starting with regular children’s events. We’ll let you know on social media and our website as soon as we have dates.

  • Can I come in to study?

    We now have study spaces available at our libraries.  To keep us all safe, there will be a wider area between each study space than before.

  • How can I book a community room?

    Please get in touch with libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org if you would like to book a community room.
