Latest Updates

  • What is Click & Collect?

A new Click & Collect service will launch 10 September, which is available to all our library members. This enables us to choose a selection of books for you, or alternatively you can request books from our library catalogue. When the books are ready to collect, we will contact you so you can book a collection slot. Once you have booked a collection slot, please arrive on the allocated date, and time and wait outside until we invite you in. We will show you where to collect your books and then you can leave. It is simple, safe and straightforward.

Please note that book collections from the Falkirk, Larbert and Bo’ness libraries will be possible from 10 September and collections from the Grangemouth, Bonnybridge, Denny and Slamannan libraries will be possible from 17 September. Unfortunately, due to storm damage, collections from the Meadowbank Library will not be possible until after 24 September.

  • Can I request an item?

Yes, you can.  Pop over to our library catalogue and follow the instructions.  Please be aware that library books can only be collected from the library that you request them from. We will not be moving items between library buildings. Once your books are available to collect, we will contact you with information on how to book a collection slot.

  • Do I need to wear a face covering to come to the library?

As the library is a public building, we ask that you wear a face covering of some kind to help keep us all safer.  Those who are exempt from wearing face coverings for medical reasons, are, of course, also welcome.

  • Can I come in to return my books?

Yes.  You do not need to book a slot to return your books.  You may have to wait outside the library until a staff member lets you in, however there is the option of leaving your returned books in our returns box.  Returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours, so items may show on your ticket for up to a week after you return them.

  • Can I use your printing, copying or public pc services?

Unfortunately, these services are not available at the moment.  We will be adding them as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. We will let you know on social media and on the Falkirk Community Trust website when our library buildings will be more fully reopened.  Please do check our website for further updates.

  • I had requested books waiting to be picked up before libraries closed what will happen to these?

Now that our staff are back in library buildings, one of their main priorities is to sort through our shelves of requested books that have been awaiting collection from before lockdown. Staff will be in touch to arrange collection of these items.

  • I’m really keen to browse your shelves. When will you reopen fully?

We are working hard to get the library buildings reopen for browsing as soon as possible. We will let you know on social media and on the Falkirk Community Trust website when our library buildings will be more fully reopened. Please do check our website for further updates.

If your enquiry is urgent then please contact libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org

  • My library isn’t open for Click & Collect. Will my library be opening?

All our libraries will be opening for Click & Collect, and subsequently for more normal opening.  We are opening some libraries first to make sure we get it right.  These libraries include Falkirk, Larbert and Bo’ness libraries on 10 September. Then if all goes to plan, we will be opening Grangemouth, Bonnybridge, Denny and Slamannan libraries from 17 September for Click & Collect. Unfortunately, due to storm damage, collections from the Meadowbank Library will not be possible until after 24 September. We will let you know when each remaining library is fully opening as soon as we can through social media, the Falkirk Community Trust website, and posters in our library windows.

  • I need a new bus pass / to renew my bus pass. When can I do that at Falkirk Library?

Unfortunately, libraries are not currently issuing bus passes. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes.  Falkirk Council are organising all bus passes at the moment and they can be contacted by phone on 01324 506070. Alternatively, log onto their website for more information: https://www.falkirk.gov.uk/services/roads-parking-transport/transport/transport-tickets-passes.aspx

  • Where can I get my hearing aid batteries?

We have a small supply of the most common hearing aid batteries which we will have available for collection at our Click & Collect libraries.  All you need to do is bring your hearing aid book with you for us to see (we will not be signing it). If you can’t get to one of our libraries easily (or you have a less common type of battery), then you can get new batteries posted out direct to your home from the Audiology department. Either phone 01786 434171 with your request or log onto: https://nhsforthvalley.com/health-services/az-of-services/audiology-services/

  • I have items on loan what should I do?

You can pop along to any of the Click & Collect libraries to return your books.  You will not need a collection slot, but we may ask you to wait outside the door until there is space for you to come in.  Please be aware that our opening hours have changed and do check these before making your journey.  We have renewed all items which were due during lockdown until October 5th 2020 and waived all fines. If you have any charges or account issues, please get in touch, telling us your name and library card number, by emailing: libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org

  • I have DVDs on loan, will I be charged more hire fees?

No. If your DVD was due for return while we were closed, you won't face any additional fees. Just return it as soon as you can to any of our Click & Collect libraries.  You won’t need a collection slot, but we may ask you to wait outside the door until there is space for you to come in.  Please be aware that our opening hours have changed and do check these before making your journey.  We have renewed all items which were due during lockdown until October 5th 2020 and waived fines and hire fees.  If you have any charges or account issues, please get in touch, telling us your name and library card number, by emailing: libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org

  • I have tried to renew the items online in my account but it won't let me. Why?

This could be for a number of reasons:

    • You have hit the limit of the number of times an item can renewed
    • Someone else has put a hold on the item
    • You have accrued library fines and your account has been frozen

PLEASE DO NOT WORRY. We have renewed all items which were due during lockdown until October 5th 2020 and waived fines. If you have any charges or account issues, please get in touch, telling us your name and library card number, by emailing: libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org We will get everything sorted out for you.

  • What will happen to the books I have on hold just now?

Your hold requests will remain active. If you have a book awaiting collection, we will contact you as soon as we reopen your local library to arrange a collection slot.

  • I don't know my library PIN number

If you provided an email address when you joined the library, you can reset your membership PIN. When you do this, a secure link is sent to your email account. If you have not given us an email address, you will not be able to reset your PIN. Please note that you do not need your PIN to register for our RB Digital ebooks, audiobooks and magazines. You only need your library card number.

Your PIN is used to log into the My Account area of the library catalogue, where you can renew books and place requests for items. If you have any issues, please don’t hesitate to contact us by emailing: libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org

  • Your library sounds amazing. I’d love to join; can I do that at the moment?

Brilliant!  Yes, you can join at the moment. Go to https://www.falkirkcommunitytrust.org/learning/libraries/join-your-local-library/ for simple joining instructions.

  • Are there any resources my family can access online?

We have a great selection of books, audiobooks and magazines for adults, teens and children that you can access for free online. Find details about our RB Digital service here.

  • Will the Home Library Service still visit?

Our Home Library Service will also be available from the 8th September and is suitable for book lovers who find it difficult to get out and about because of disability, illness or because they're caring for someone. It's also perfect for people who struggle to carry heavy library books.  You can even use the service on a temporary basis, for example, if you've had an operation or accident.  You don't need to be a current library member to use the service. We will phone all our existing Home Library Service customers to let them know when to expect us.  For more information contact us on libraries@falkirkcommunitytrust.org
