Latest Updates

  • How can you reopen and keep the risk of Covid-19 transmission low?

We have implemented a range of measures to help keep customers and staff safe. These include a new one-way system around parts of the buildings and new exit routes. This enables us to control the flow of people and to minimise the gathering of customers.

  • Will the swimming pool be open as normal?

We have had to make some temporary changes to swimming pool operations.  Please be aware of the reduced capacity for each session as the number of swimmers permitted in the pool and changing rooms at any one time has been decreased.  Swimming pools are programmed for scheduled sessions throughout the day.  Customers must book in advance of their visit.

  • I want to go swimming with my family. Do I have to pre-book this?

We are adhering to the Scottish Government Test and Protect strategy and as such we are asking our customers to pre-book their visit by telephoning their venue of choice and pre-paying.  In the interests of safety, there will be no features available e.g. wave machine, flumes and play equipment.

  • How do I book a swim session?

Members can book 7 days in advance.  Non-members can book 5 days in advance.  Please call you preferred venue to make your booking.

  • Can I swim out with the scheduled sessions?

No.  Swimmers will only be permitted access at the pre-determined session times.

  • What does ‘beach ready’ mean?

Please come with your swimwear under your clothes, if possible.  Please shower at home before your visit.

  • Will the pools be set up for lane swimming only?

Due to the wide range of our swimming pool facilities throughout the Trust the pool set up will be venue specific. Some pools will operate with lane swimming only, open family sessions or a mixture of both. Please contact your preferred venue for further information.

  • Can I just turn up for a swim?

All activities must be pre booked and paid for at the time of booking by calling the relevant venue.  If there is space in the next session you can book into this session. You will be required to provide your contact details

  • Can I wait inside the venue if I arrive early for my swim session.

There is no waiting area and you will not be permitted access into the venue until 5 minutes before your session commences.

  • Will I be required to wear a face mask?

All customers will be required to wear face coverings in public areas i.e. upon entering the building and while travelling in corridors and toilets. You will be able to remove your face covering when inside your designated changing cubicle.

  • What should I do if I have a safety concern prior to my visit?

If you have a concern that is not covered by our FAQs, you can email us at wearelistening@falkirkcommunitytrust.org

If you have a concern during your visit, please alert a facility team member of staff but please keep at least 1m away from our team members while speaking to them.

  • How will the changing rooms and lockers work pre-swim?

Changing rooms will have restricted access due to the size of the area and will operate on a one-way travel system.  Follow the signage or ask a member of staff for directions to and from the pool area. You will be allocated a freshly cleaned cubicle which will be locked when you are ready to swim.  Lockers will not be in operation. To reduce time in changing rooms, we ask that if possible, you arrive with your swimwear under your clothes.  We will have an enhanced cleaning regime and each cubicle will be cleaned after use.

  • How long can I have in the pool?

All swimming bookings will be limited to 40-minute sessions.

  • Can I have a shower after swimming session?

We are asking that you shower prior to entering the pool, in accordance with our pool water hygiene safety procedures.  Showers are not available after you swim.  Hairdryers will not be in operation.

  • Will the toilets be open?

Yes, a limited number of toilets will be open at each site and subject to an enhanced cleaning schedule. Please follow the signage and wash hands after your visit.

  • Can I hire equipment?

No, please bring your own equipment.

  • Can I buy swimwear, armbands and pool toys?

Limited stock will be on display of our most popular items. Please ask if a member of staff if the item you are looking for is not on display.

  • When will swimming lessons recommence?

    Swimming lessons have now recommenced.

  • Will the sauna and steam rooms be open?

The sauna and steam room will remain closed for the moment.

  • How will you support the Contact Tracing programme to identify people at risk of coronavirus (COVID-19)?

Contact tracing is a process for identifying people at risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection because they have been physically close to a person who has tested positive. FCT supports the Scottish Government’s Test & Protect Strategy and follows its guidance on the collection of customer and visitor contact details.

All visitors attending formalised activities must book online or call and book in advance. Upon arrival their attendance shall be recorded.  The following details will be collected:

The name of each customer or visitor, or when attending as a small household group, the contact details for one member of that group - a 'lead member', noting the size of the group

A contact phone number for each individual, or for the 'lead member' of a small household group

Date of visit and arrival and, where possible, departure time

  • How will you ensure that social distancing and safety measures are being adhered to by all users within the facility?

Before returning to the facility, customers will be required to commit to enhanced hygiene measures and our new ways of working. Our team have received training and guidance and are on hand to support the enforcement and practice of our safety measures.

  • Will staff be wearing face masks and other PPE?

Yes, it is within our guidance that all staff will wear masks where possible. If the wearing of a mask is unsuitable for an individual for health reasons or specific job roles subject to risk assessment, we will require them to wear a face shield.  Staff that cannot wear a face covering for medical reasons will wear lanyards displaying their NHS medical exemption cards.

  • Will there be inflatable sessions?

No, in the interests of health and safety during the COVID-19 outbreak, we will not be offering inflatable sessions.

  • Can I book a pool party?

We are not offering pool parties at the moment as our Cafes are currently closed and we are adhering to the Scottish Government guidelines with regard to limiting public gatherings.

  • Will the wave machine at the Mariner be on? What about the flumes at Grangemouth Sports Complex?

The waves are not available at the moment.  The small chutes in the Mariner will be available but not the big frog.

The flumes at Grangemouth Sports Complex will not be in operation.
