Health & Fitness Update 18 September
We know and understand that the highly valued services we provide our local community at all of our Health & Fitness facilities have been missed during the enforced closures.
Rest assured that we are working hard, in conjunction with Falkirk Council, to reopen our venues as soon as it is safe to do so. We are therefore planning to reopen Grangemouth Sports Complex at the end of September. However, please bear in mind, this is subject to the programme of work being completed in conjunction with Falkirk Council, as the building has been closed for so long. We are required to undertake a number of regulatory safety tests (including water quality, electricity, fire alarms, etc.) and arrange for the necessary remedial work to be undertaken where any problems are detected.
When we re-open, customers will be able to visit the Complex and access the below activities:
- Newly relocated gym in Sports Hall One
- Fitness classes
- Hire of badminton courts
Online booking for gym sessions and fitness classes will be available for members from Thursday 24th September, with non-members able to reserve time slots and pay by telephone. All other activities available when we reopen should be booked and paid by phone with the venue.
Club bookings for under 12s coached activities will also be available when we re-open, although the sauna, steam room and café will remain closed at this time.
Unfortunately, the swimming pool may not be available until a few days after the dry side areas, although we do hope to confirm an opening date for swimmers shortly after we open our doors for the above activities.
As per the First Minister’s announcement on 10th September, soft play facilities and indoor contact sports for adults (individuals aged 12 or over), have now been given the indicative restart date of Monday 5th October. We will advise in due course as to when these activities will be available.
All our venues will comply with the Scottish Government’s Test and Protect scheme. As a result, all fitness classes, gym, swim and soft play sessions as well as venue visits must be booked in advance. If you are unable to access or use our online booking services, our team will do their utmost to assist you over the phone. Please just get in touch by calling the venue directly.
All of our services will have been adapted to incorporate the necessary social distancing measures and hygiene requirements. They will, therefore, look different as we continue to live and operate alongside COVID-19.
We understand that there may be some of our Health & Fitness customers who do not yet feel ready to return to our facilities. If this is you, please refer to our previous statement on Health & Fitness memberships here.
Unfortunately the Council has not yet confirmed a potential reopening date for Bo’ness Recreation Centre; however please rest assured that we will communicate all of our venue opening dates as soon as we can following the Council’s satisfactory completion of the statutory building checks.
At this time, we wish to thank you for your continued patience, and we look forward to welcoming you back when the time comes.
