Community Sport Hub Volunteer

What is a Community Sport Hub Volunteer?

Volunteers will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the project and will receive mentoring from the Sports Development Officer overseeing the Community Sport Hubs. Initially paired with an experience facilitator, volunteers will develop the knowledge and skills to lead activity sessions. The role will include actively engaging participants aged 50+ in activities, such as soft archery, table tennis, indoor bowls, and indoor curling.

What’s involved?

  • Working with participants aged 50+ in a small group environment
  • Setting up equipment and laying out tea/coffee prior to the start of the activity
  • Facilitating a range of sports and activities, including: soft archery, table tennis, indoor bowls, and indoor curling. Activities will be added as the project grows!
  • Encourage participants to try new activities
  • Assist with events throughout the year

Skills, Attitude, and Experience Required

  • This role would suit individuals who are passionate about sport within their community and have a positive, can-do attitude.
  • An ability to follow instruction and adhere to Health and Safety
  • A willingness to learn and develop skills
  • No previous experience required! Our Sports Development Officer will provide training.

Other important information

Location: Within the Camelon and Grangemouth areas of Falkirk.

Time Commitment: Must be able to commit to 2-3 hours once a week, which includes setting up and dismantling equipment.

Training: Training will be provided on an ongoing basis, based on the commitment from the volunteer. Suitable training for this role would include First Aid, Safe Guarding training, sport specific CPD based on the sports being offered to the groups.

Expenses: We are unable to reimburse expenses for this opportunity.
