What is a Festival Assistant?

Hippodrome Silent FilmFestival (HippFest) is one of Scotland's most prestigious and popular film festivals, happening in Scotland's oldest purpose-built cinema - the Hippodrome in Bo'ness. Renowned for its warm welcome, inclusive atmosphere and community engagement, the Festival attracts fans of cinema and live music and has an unrivalled reputation in the UK for screening an exciting programme of international silent films, accompanied by a dazzling line-up of new and established musicians and performers.

Our enthusiastic and helpful volunteers welcome audiences, assist in ensuring events run smoothly and conduct evaluation surveys. Our hard-working volunteers are all ages and from diverse backgrounds but what they have in common are a passion for silent cinema with live music and a desire to make sure everyone has a great time at HippFest.

Skills, attitude, and experience required

We are looking for helpful, friendly people with an interested in silent cinema and live music.

Other important information

Location: Hippodrome Cinema and other festival venues in Bo'ness

Time commitment: At least 3 shifts of 4 hrs each during the Festival

Training: We have an all-team meeting to run through the events and tasks of the Festival. We provide relevant safety training and training for conducting evaluation with audiences.

Expenses: Up to £8 per day with proof of receipt of travel.
