The Big Dig: Project Coordinator

The Big Dig: Project Coordinator

Closing date: 19/05/21 17:00
Location: Home/ Falkirk area
Fee: £6250
Contract Type: Freelance Fixed Term
Duration: June 2021 – October 2021
Position Type: P/T
Interviews: 26/05/2021

Great Place Falkirk seeks an experienced events coordinator passionate about community outreach and interested in community heritage to lead on the coordination of The Big Dig, a three week community archaeology festival taking place across the Falkirk area throughout September 2021.

The project coordinator will work closely with festival partners Archaeology Scotland, Great Place activity lead officers, local community groups, and volunteers to create and deliver the Big Dig event to towns across the area. Participants will be invited to take part in archaeological digs either in their gardens or at designated community dig sites, and to record what they find for interpretation by archaeologists. Through these finds and the communities’ participation, the Big Dig will chart the Story of Falkirk through the eyes of its current and past residents in each ward, and enable Falkirk people to have direct involvement in the discovery, care, and promotion of their heritage.
The selected candidate will have extensive experience producing large-scale, creative, successful events, and will be skilled at engaging communities to access and enjoy these. An interest in history, heritage, and archaeology is desirable, and access to your own transport is essential.

This is a freelance, 37 day contract. It will commence 2nd June 2021 & run to 2nd October 2021. The selected candidate must be available to work all festival dates, with allocation of the remaining contracted days to be agreed between the ALO and the Project Coordinator.
The fee offered for this engagement is £6250.
For further details on the role and how to apply, please contact greatplace@falkirkcommunitytrust.org, or download here.

The deadline for applications is 5pm Wednesday 19th May 2021. Interviews will be held via Zoom on Wednesday 26th May 2021.
