The famous Glen Coe Skyline race is a tough lap round the heights of Upper Glen Etive and the bulk of Glen Coe, taking in most of the major peaks on the way. Our plan is to mainly follow the route over two days and camping overnight at the Red Squirrel campsite – that way you won’t have to lug all your overnight kit with you.
Day 1 – 19km with 2200 metres of ascent
After dropping kit off at the campsite we’ll begin the route at Buachaille Etive Mor, heading up Curved Ridge, then over to the wee Buachaille by its bealach. Then we go up the Lairig Eilde and on the the Bidean nam Bian massif via Stob Coire Sgreamhach, continuing over the summit of Bidean and down to the road for a well-earned rest.
Day 2 – 12.1km with 1500 metres of ascent
A tough start takes us up on to the Aonach Eagach ridge by the steep direct route on to Sgorr nam Fiannaidh. Then scrambling over to Am Bodach, then on via Sron Gharbh to the Devil’s Staircase and the end of the route back at the road.
You will need pay for the campsite on the day - £12.50 per person per night.
Participants will need to be hill fit and have some previous scrambling experience.
